10 Reasons Luis Suarez Is Irreplacable At Liverpool
7. Failure To Attract Big Names
Luis Suarez cannot be replaced it is as simple as that. With Liverpools one true world-class player having left the club, it will prove so hard to attract the right calibre of player if they are serious about pushing on with another title challenge. Already, Alexis Sanchez has spurned the opportunity to join the Rodgers revolution at Anfield, in favour of signing a contract at Arsenal. The way the transfer window is playing out, Sanchez is probably making a wise decision. Even with the Uruguayans talents, the Merseyside club have been relevant nobodies on the European scene for the last half-decade. Unable to offer the big bucks of Man City and Chelsea, instead relying on Rodgers and Gerrards collective ability to sell the philosophy, Liverpool have often come up short in the transfer market. Over the last three years, they have had their pants pulled down on several occasions, forced to pay well over the odds for the likes of Stewart Downing, Andy Carroll and Charlie Adam. Rodgers himself, for all plaudits, hasnt looked too wily in the market, with his purchases of Iago Aspas, Fabio Borini and the £18 million Mamadou Sakho raising a few eyebrows. Even six weeks ago, the calibre of profile appearing on their transfer list was reminiscent of the Dalglish era, with the club ready to shell out for Rickie Lambert and Adam Lallana. Without the jewel in the crown, Liverpool are going to find it increasingly harder to attract the talent needed for this gruelling and unforgiving Champions League campaign.
