Brazilian international Paulinho arrived at Spurs for a then-club record fee of £17 million in 2013. He has yet to set the ground running in England and now finds himself as a fringe player at White Hart Lane, really only being limited to appearances in the Europa League and Capital One Cup - but he seems oddly content with that, at least as far as his demeanour goes. The midfielder has stated that, amidst some potential interest from clubs back in his homeland, he could be open to a move away from the club, saying that "I am participating in only a few games at Tottenham. Maybe now is the opportunity to go back. There is interest from Brazilian clubs, but nothing concrete yet. I'm glad to have a recognition, I feel proud." Instead of saying "I want to fight for my place, let's not talk about leaving", Paulinho seems resigned to not making the cut - a theory validated by his lacklustre effort and performances on the pitch when he gets the chance (which is, usually, against poor opposition when he should be thriving).
