With Steven Gerrard and Frank Lampard unlikely to be available come Euro 2016, England may be short of top quality centre midfielders, given that Jack Wilshere and Jordan Henderson are yet to convince all English fans of their long-term international credentials.

So who else is there? Jack Cork may not be the first player to come to mind, but the Southampton man could be exactly the type of midfielder which England need. A deep-sitting playmaker who is extremely comfortable on the ball and capable of dictating the tempo of a game, the former Chelsea-trainee is also deceptively strong in the tackle. He has fierce competition for his position at club level in the shape of Victor Wanyama and Morgan Schneiderlin, however that may help get the best out of him and set up a big future for the 25-year-old.
