2. Shane Long
Nick Potts/PA Wire/Press Association ImagesTo be a top class striker in modern football where 4-5-1 has become more common than 4-4-2, you have to offer a lot more for the team than simply putting the ball in the back of the net. Didier Drogba, for example, is someone who is often described as the complete striker as he offers pace, power, hold-up play, a goal threat and even defensive cover from set-pieces. Hull Citys Shane Long is another striker who could be described as complete. At less than six foot tall, Long is surprisingly good in the air and equally good at scoring with his feet, as his goal record suggests. He can hold the ball up, and his blistering pace allows him to run in behind when needed to as well. The reported £7m fee which Hull paid West Brom for Long in January was a steal.
