10 Most Undeserving Players Who Appeared 50 Times For Newcastle

7. Gabriel Obertan - 55 Appearances

The former Man Utd player is nothing short of an enigma: signed from the Champions by Alan Pardew who wanted to give him another opportunity to show the skills that had compelled Sir Alex Ferguson to buy him in the first place, the Frenchman has been worryingly inconsistent ever since. As his manager has been saying recently, his ability isn't really up for question: he's undoubtedly a talented player with pace and the ability to go past players, but he is a little one dimensional and way too often when plan A fails, he simply disappears out of games. And even more frustratingly for a player with such pace and energy, he has spent way too much time looking like he's really not that bothered about trying. In the past two years, the Frenchman has made just ten league appearances for the club, and you have to suspect that if anyone was interested in him he would (and should) have gone well before he was able to get anywhere near 50 appearances.
