8. Man United 0-1 Leeds United, 2010
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=owpnrxCXZJ4 There is nothing sweeter for a club that has fallen on hard times than to travel to an old rival and miraculously pull of a David via Goliath mammoth victory. Leeds United have suffered more than most in the last decade since their ignominious relegation from the top-flight and well-documented financial difficulties. The month was January 2010 and the former giants of English football were the leaders in the third tier, when they were drawn to face their old foes in the third round of the FA Cup. The omens for Leeds did not look good - Man United had never before lost in the third round of this competition, or indeed been knocked out by a lower-division side - under Sir Alex Fergusons stewardship. Records are there to be broken, though. The gallant Lillywhites flummoxed the Red Devils with an early strike through Jermaine Beckford, stunning the Old Trafford crowd into silence, a killer blow from which they never recovered. Man United spent the rest of the game trying to get out of third gear and kept failing to break the Leeds stubborn rearguard down. The Red Devils found looked menacing when Antonio Valencia, Ryan Giggs and Michael Owen were introduced in the second half, but chances went begging as Leeds held out for a historic win, and consigned Man United to an embarrassing early exit.
