10 Youth Prospects Who Could Change Arsenal's Future

6. Hector Bellerin

Hector Bellerin spent the 2013/14 season out on loan with Watford, however, he is currently impressing during the Gunners' pre season and will be staking his claim for a place in Arsenal's first-team squad next year. Bellerin made his senior debut last season, coming on as a central midfielder during the League Cup tie with West Brom, though his most utilised position in an Arsenal shirt has been as an attacking right-back. He arrived from Barcelona several years ago as an attacking winger, but Arsenal have added defensive discipline to his game much like they did with Ashley Cole before him, and the hope is that he will eventually become a complete full-back, equally effective at either end of the pitch. With the departure of Bacary Sagna, Jenkinson being loaned out and Chambers possibly moving into a central role, Bellerin could even find himself thrust into first-team contention for the 2014/15 season, at least as back-up to Mathieu Debuchy, whose disciplinary record suggests he may miss some games. While he is unlikely to be ready to start games regularly next season, he will surely be guaranteed to start several Cup games as he adapts to the rigours of senior football.
