11 Spurs Signings Who Were Absolute Bargains

2. Emmanuel Adebayor

Bearing in mind that Manchester City had previously paid £25 million for Emmanuel Adebayor, it was something of a coup when Spurs got the striker in on loan. His loan stint at White Hart Lane saw him score eighteen goals in one season - seventeen of which came in his 33 league appearances - and he was the club's top scorer. It was even more of a bargain then, when Spurs signed him permanently for just £5 million in time for the start of the following season. He has since scored a further seventeen goals for the club in 48 league games and the Togo international was the top scorer last season - despite only playing in the second half of it - with eleven league goals and fourteen in all competitions. On his day, he is unplayable and, regardless of how he plays from this point onwards, it's fair to say he has already paid back his cost but, given that he looks to be on form this season, he may even become more of a bargain than he already appears - and you can rest assured that he would fetch a lot more than £5 million if Spurs were to sell him any time soon.
