2. Fernando Torres - Liverpool To Chelsea (£50 Million)

Fernando Torres has been knocked off his perch. Chelsea paid an astonishing £50 million to steal him away from Liverpool on January deadline day 2011, and with Torres one of the hottest strikers in the world at the time he was expected to go from strength-to-strength at the Bridge. Liverpool used the money to replace Torres with Andy Carroll and Luis Suarez, but in the Spaniard's case, he was expected to be the man to replace Didier Drogba at his new club in the long term.
