12 Most Expensive Transfers In Premier League History

1. Angel Di Maria - Real Madrid To Man Utd (£59.7 Million)

There's been huge debate over whether Manchester United needed to spend close to £60 million on Angel Di Maria. Talk that the Argentinian midfielder is another 2014 panic buy is rife, but whether Di Maria was another type of player United needed or not, it doesn't mean that he won't turn into an Old Trafford great. He's been handed the number seven shirt and big things are expected. Louis van Gaal sees Di Maria as capable of fitting into a number of different positions in several systems. His adaptability, speed, appetite and ability to manipulate the ball put him up there with the best players in the modern game. But £60 million? Have United overpaid AGAIN?! It might prove to be the case, but the fears that Louis van Gaal will be unable to attract the best players in the game to his club without Champions League football have been eradicated. With Radamel Falcao arriving just days after, United are back in the big time. It's expensive business, but considering the state of modern football it is nigh on impossible to buy a top tier player without paying big bucks. And the fees are only going to keep increasing. How many of these players do you think have been worth their transfer fee? Will Angel Di Maria flop at Manchester United? Have your say in the comments below!
