14 Biggest Premier League Transfer Mistakes Of Summer So Far

6. Hatem Ben Arfa - Newcastle Utd To ?

Hatem Ben Arfa looks as though he is on his way out of Newcastle this summer after manager Alan Pardew stripped him of the No.10 shirt and consigned him to the humiliation of playing with the reserves for an alleged lack of professionalism. Ben Arfa has fallen out of favour under Pardew and will likely never play for the St James' Park outfit ever again. Which is ridiculous considering the winger is a quality player. The Frenchman is a player capable of moments of magic and has scored some wonderful goals in the past, like the one against Bolton two years ago. He is also one of the Magpies' most skilful players and finished as the club's fourth-highest goalscorer in the Premier League last season. According to Who Scored, Ben Arfa has also averaged more successful dribbles per game (3.2) than any other player in the last two Premier League seasons and he gives Pardew options that no other player currently provides. Yet he is being forced out of the club and will probably be sold this summer, with a move to French side Lyon on the cards. It's disappointing, and another sorry chapter in the controversial Mike Ashley era, with Newcastle being made to look more and more like a laughing stock.
