14 Biggest Premier League Transfer Mistakes Of Summer So Far

5. Loic Remy - QPR To Liverpool (Pulled Out)

Liverpool are in the market for a new goalscorer this summer following the £75 million sale of Luis Suarez to Barcelona and it looked as though they had signed one at the end of July. The Reds agreed an £8.5 million fee with Queens Park Rangers for Loic Remy and his move to Anfield appeared to be set in stone. Remy travelled to Boston to meet up with his future new teammates on their pre-season tour of the United States and underwent a medical. It was surely only a matter of formalities before he was snapped holding aloft the famous Red jersey alongside manager Brendan Rodgers. However, Liverpool incredibly pulled out of the deal, claiming the player had failed his medical. The football world reacted in bewilderment in the wake of the news, after all, Remy had just scored 14 Premier League goals while on loan at Newcastle and looked as fit as a flea. Even QPR manager Harry Redknapp questioned the claims, saying: €œReports have come out that he failed a medical. That€™s not possible. He is a very fit lad, there has to be another reason.€ Redknapp's claims only added to the mystery of the failed medical and if Liverpool did turn the striker down for some other reason, it's folly. They still haven't replaced Suarez following his departure to Spain and need to sign a top-class forward in the three weeks remaining of the transfer window or else face the prospect of missing out on another top four finish in 2014-15.
