14 Mind-Blowing Facts You Didn't Know About NBA

1. Only Four Teams Have Won More Than Three Times

As difficult as it is to win the NBA Championship, enjoying a sustained period of success is even harder. Only three teams have truly built an NBA dynasty, the Celtics, Lakers and Bulls enjoying various spells of dominance over the years. Generally speaking, the 60s belonged to the Boston and the 90s belonged to the Bulls, with Los Angeles scattering their triumphs across different eras (most notably sharing a near-duopoly of the 80s with their arch-rival Celtics). The strangest case are probably the San Antonio Spurs, whose five championships between 1999 and 2014 have flown slightly under the radar. Every few seasons they tend to crop up in the postseason with an unstoppable march to the finals - a testament to the longevity and consistency of key players such as Duncan, Parker and Ginobili, and the remarkable talents of their legendary coach Greg Popovic. With the first round of the 2015 playoffs now well underway, it remains to be seen whether a new team will win their first ever championship, or if an existing legacy will be added to.
