The Liverpool players may have loved that night in Istanbul in 2005, but spare a thought for the AC Milan players - and most-particularly Jon Dahl Tomasson. Tomasson's solitary season at Newcastle between 1997 and 1998 may have been pretty disastrous, but the 2005 Champions League final must have been even more painful. The Danish forward arrived off the bench as an 85th minute substitute but couldn't find that all-important fourth goal for Milan and, even though he netted his spot-kick, three of his teammates missed theirs so the Italians somehow left Turkey empty handed.
