20 English Players Newcastle Should Sign This Summer
11. Jake Forster-Caskey
Age: 21 Position: Midfielder Current Club: Brighton & Hove Albion (2010-) Previous Clubs: Oxford United (loan, 2012-13) Estimated Market Value: £1.5 million League Appearances (Goals) 2014-15: 15 (0) England Under-21 Caps (Goals): 13 (1) If Newcastle decide they need greater options in the middle of the park in 2015-16, then a move for Jake Forster-Caskey could prove shrewd - and relatively cheap. The Brighton & Hove Albion youth-team product has made 13 appearances for England Under-21s and he has been earmarked as a future Premier League player, so the Magpies could swoop in and sign him for a modest fee. In 95 career appearances to date for both Brighton and Oxford United, Forster-Caskey has scored 10 goals and impressed from midfield - including netting two in 19 last season. He still has a lot of improving to do, and needs to bulk up physically, but Forster-Caskey is certainly a midfielder who could be nurtured to become a top player.
