Strongly believed at the time to be a cheeky homage to Juventus' tradition of contrasting their black and white stripes with a blue and gold away kit, the 98/99 change strip is best remembered for marking the end of the entertainers. Whilst the players who wore it won't be recalled with as much fondness as their predecessors - Dalgliesh replacing Beardsley, Ginola and Ferdinand with Barnes, Guivarch and Maric - the kit itself was nonetheless a gorgeous effort. Using a shimmering royal blue as the foundation, the kit incorporated a simple golden orange contrast in the socks and, more subtly, the Adidas branding on the shirt and shorts.
