4 Strikers That Will Be In Hodgson's Provisional England Squad (And 1 That Definitely Won't)
4. Daniel Sturridge
Caps: 10 Goals: 3 The obvious man to lead England's front line this summer, the Liverpool forward has enjoyed a wonderful season with his club side. His link up play with fellow striker Luis Suarez has blossomed under Brendan Rodger's management and there is a strong likelihood that their partnership will break the Premier League's all time record come the end of the season. As a youngster, Sturridge found his opportunities for game time limited at Chelsea and Man City but now, aged 24, he is starting to develop into the player that showed so much potential during his teenage years. In an England shirt Sturridge hasn't always looked as assured as he has done at club level, probably because he doesn't have the luxury of playing alongside the quality of a player like Suarez. However, the Liverpool forward is still a relative newcomer on the international scene, having only earned 10 caps for England so far, with a return of three goals. Sturridge is most likely to be utilised in a front three in an attacking formation or as a lone front man when England are sitting deeper against stronger opposition. Hodgson will be anxious for him to maintain his form and fitness ahead of the tournament, as much of English goalscoring hopes will rest on his shoulders.
