5 Former British Premier League Stars You Never Knew Played Abroad

2. Anton Ferdinand

Ever wondered where the less famous Ferdinand brother ended up? Well it's Turkey, and not one of the big clubs either, it's Antalyaspor, who finished seventh in the Turkish Super Lig last season. He was at Bursaspor, who are marginally better known, playing for them in a loan spell last season before moving to the Antalyan club, who for sponsorship reasons are actually called Medical Park Antalyaspor, in the summer. However, you know something is up when you don't get as big a fuss made for you upon arriving at a Turkish club as Darius Vassell, who was greeted by screaming thousands after signing for Ankaragucu, but the former Sunderland man has quietly gone about his business in Turkey, to the delight of the fans, who also have the pleasure of cheering on former Liverpool striker Milan Baros. Despite playing just three times so far for his new side, hopes are are high for the central defender, with the club aiming for Europe, despite sitting in tenth place after 11 rounds of the Super Lig. As for taking a chance abroad, Turkey seemed a good opportunity for the man whose contract was cancelled by Harry Redknapp at QPR in the summer, and we wish him all the best.
