He was simply magnificent all game - and proved that he has the talent to really be a worldbeater one day. Still just 19 years of age and with only six competitive first-team appearances to his name, Aarons really is a star in the making. A pinpoint-accurate cross found its way into the box and to Georginio Wijnaldum in the sixth minute, and Aarons had an assist - despite being deployed as a makeshift left-back during the first-half. However, the best was still to come after the break as the Jamaican-born England youth international went on a one-man mission to drag the Magpies back into the game. First, Gael Bigirimana crossed from the right and, with the ball behind him, Aarons flicked it up to himself and the scored a magnificent overhead kick from 10 yards out. Yet he was not finished there and, just 60 seconds later, he had his second of the night. Gabriel Obertan crossed to find Aarons on the edge of the area, who took a touch before unleashing an unstoppable left-footed shot past the Timbers 2 goalkeeper. Already a hero on Tyneside, Aarons has all the attributes to become a real gem in a black-and-white shirt.
