Age 37 Team LA Galaxy Nation England It was a controversial decision by Stuart Pearce to leave David Beckham out of the squad. If he had gone there is no doubt that he would of given 110%. Unfortunately this is not the case as according to `psycho ` he left him out for `footballing reasons` which were that there was not enough defensive cover (hence why Micah Richards is playing), but I feel this is not a valid reason. Beckham is not a winger anymore, he has followed the same pattern as Giggs in recent years by playing in a more central role and on his day he can easily dictate the tempo of a game. For LA Galaxy he plays a Pirlo-type role, sitting in front of the back four and spraying passes across the field. I understand he`s not playing top level football anymore unlike Giggs but it would have been fitting to see our most capped outfield player to conclude at the Olympic games.
