Another North East boss who could be handed his P45 as a Christmas present is Newcastle United's Alan Pardew. This summer has been one of bitter disappointment for the Magpies and their fans, who were up in arms following the appointment of former manager Joe Kinnear as director of football. Said director of football then failed miserably in the transfer window, landing only Loic Remy, and the last three months have been more about retaining the players they do have than adding new ones for the St James' Park club. Not exactly the mentality that is going to keep you in the Premier League, and if the last campaign is anything to go by, this could be another difficult season for Newcastle, who finished 16th last term. Though it would be regrettable and unfair to point the finger of blame at Pardew should things go sour on the Toon this year, it is he who will shoulder the blame rather than Kinnear. There is a theory that the appointment of Kinnear
is a tactical ploy by Mike Ashley to rid himself of Pardew, and the unpopular owner may get his wish by Christmas.
