5 Most Ridiculous Suggestions To Change The Way Football Works

3. "Never-Ending Extra Time"

The penalty shootout is the most dreaded of all footballing methods and is used as an absolute last resort - if neither settles the game within regulation time, and the scores are still level after extra-time, only then does it come into effect. Even then there have been various other methods used down the years to limit the likelihood of a shootout, such as the 'silver goal rule' and the 'golden goal rule' - but how about 'never-ending extra time?' This works exactly how you'd expect it too - extra time no longer has a 30 minute lifespan, and goes on for however long it takes for a side to get a winning goal. However, like many more suggested rule changes on this list, it's never going to come to fruition - not in a world of strict television schedules - viewers would go mad if Coronation Street was delayed by three hours because nobody could score a winning goal.
