Not content with verbally abusing opposing managers, Alan Pardew also has previous with physically abusing an opposing player. With his Newcastle United side comfortably leading Hull City 3-1 at the KC Stadium in March 2014, the Magpies' manager appeared to lose all control in an incident over an innocuous throw-in. The Cockney gaffer held on to the ball slightly too long for David Meyler's liking, resulting in the Hull player trying to barge Pardew out of the way. Inevitably, Pardew wasn't happy and reacted angrily, pushing his forehead into the face of the midfielder before promptly being sent to the stands by the referee. Newcastle went on to win the game 4-2, but it was a performance that will always be remembered for the wrong reasons. The severity of the incident led to many discussions about just how the FA should deal with Pardew and in the end he was handed the toughest managerial punishment to date in Premier League history - a three-game stadium ban followed by a four-game touchline suspension and a £160,000 fine.
