8 Greatest 30-Somethings In World Football Right Now

1. Arjen Robben

Arjen Robben's career looked like never reaching its enormous potential during a large chunk of the 2000s, but the former Chelsea and Real Madrid man has finally hit the lofty heights many expected of him as a youngster. There is arguably nobody better in world football at the moment, barring Messi and Ronaldo, and he is riding on the crest of a wave. The 30-year-old is one of the most thrilling players to watch when in full flow, barring his hugely irritating theatrics, and although almost every defender who faces him knows what he's going to do, there seems to be little they can do to stop him. Blessed with searing pace and a wand of a left foot, the Holland international cuts inside from the right time and time again, curling sumptuous efforts into the top corner or providing countless assists for teammates. His dribbling is as good as anyone's, and he is a genuine match-winner. Having often been too greedy and lazy during his younger days, Robben has been majestic during his five years at Bayern Munich. He has got better and better, and having been labelled as something of a bottler in big games, his late winner in the 2013 Champions League Final against Borussia Dortmund helped lay those ghosts to rest. Robben is at the absolute peak of his powers right now, and there's no reason why he won't continue in his current vein for the next two or three years. It would have been a real shame had he never fulfilled his potential, but fortunately he has. We would love to hear your 8 Greatest 30-Somethings In World Football Currently.
