Alan Pardew: 4 Moments Of Madness From Newcastle Boss

2. Alan v The Neighbours

Long before Italians were sliding on all fours at St James' Park, Pardew had Martin O'Neil to contend with as manager of Newcastle's fiercest rival, Sunderland. Local derbies are always emotionally charged occasions and Alan definitely found it difficult to keep his feelings in check during the clash in March 2012. With both sets of fans baying for blood and tempers running high on the pitch, some might have looked to the management teams for a calming presence when all those around were going berserk. Unfortunately with Alan at the helm there was only going to be more fireworks. When Newcastle scored through Shola Ameobi (who else) Alan displayed a remarkable degree of bad sportsmanship, matched only by an Australian cricket team. A whole lot of aggressive fist pumping in the direction of the Sunderland bench led to the two managers squaring up, only to be separated before things got even more heated.
