A regular under Alan Pardew, including when the Magpies finished fifth in 2011-12, Gutierrez was then struck down with testicular cancer and underwent operations to fight off the disease. It proved to be a fairytale ending to Gutierrez's Newcastle United career, even if a player who showed them exceptional loyalty was treated awfully by the club.
