Arsenal 2-0 Marseille: Champions League Player Ratings

Mathieu Flamini: Arsenal were so dominant in possession his usual dirty work was not needed here. 6/10.

Jack Wilshere: Our man of the match. Took his opener superbly early on. Great pace then skill to beat Lucas Mendes when cutting inside. Incisive play created Ramsey chance. Fired in a second when put in the clear by Ramsey and Ozil. Subbed with the game won. 8/10.

Tomas Rosicky: Energetic as ever and an unsung hero of Arsenal's possession football. Subbed. 6.5/10. Mesut Ozil: Touch let him down when Ramsey played him over the top. Terrible penalty saved by Mandanda. Assisted Wilshere's second goal, and that just about saved his bacon. German star glides around well enough, but fans expect more from the price tag. Subbed. 5.5/10. Olivier Giroud: Full of endeavour as usual, but not overly threatening tonight. French striker keeps trying for the full 90 minutes. Nothing came off for him here. Giroud remains a mobile target and clever movement in the channels is now his hallmark. 5.5/10. Subs: Santi Cazorla: Given 15 minutes off the bench, but the match was already won. Rating N/A. Theo Walcott: Came on with Cazorla and dragged a late effort wide. No expectation on England winger as Gunners were 2-0 up on his second appearance after injury. Rating N/A. Mikel Arteta: Thrown on for last 10 minutes to see the game out. Rating N/A. Click next for the Marseille team.
