Arsenal: 5 Reasons For Aaron Ramsey's Rise To Prominence

4. A Slight Position Shift

Due to the rise of Jack Wilshere and the signing of players such as Mikel Arteta and Santi Cazorla, Ramsey found himself increasingly being used on either wing, which although he tried his best, certainly did not show us what he is really capable of. At former club Cardiff City, the player nicknamed 'Rambo', was used in a variety of positions as well as central midfield, operating behind the strikers, on the wing and even in defence, where he has played a couple of times for the Gunners. This versatility was to be admired, but never gave him the chance to impress in any one particular place. Now though, having effectively ousted Wilshere at the heart of Arsenal's midfield, Ramsey has really come into his own, and has been dazzling fans with his ability to carry the ball forward and be on the end of an attacking move. His inclusion has also been of use to Wilshere however, who is still regaining full fitness after several injury setbacks. The midfielder has found a happy home in the centre of midfield, giving his boss a pleasant selection headache in a team blessed with several central midfielders.
