Arsenal Transfer News: 5 Reasons Why Bacary Sagna Must Be Sold

5. The Last Of A Failed Generation

failed generation After the €˜invincibles€™ came, well, not a lot really. Some stellar individuals but as a club Arsenal have slipped down the table, and collectively the likes of van Persie, Nasri, Fabregas, Walcott and Sagna have not performed to the sum of their parts. A lot of the title-less side from 2006 to 2011 has left, and with the last remnants discarded Wenger can look to start a new era. Unlike his fellow contract rebel Theo Walcott, Bacary Sagna does not have youth on his side. There is no more to come. Staying at the club will only harm the progress of those under him, and unless he signs a new contract Sagna€™s outbursts in the press will only harm morale. A malaise has set in at the Emirates. Despite Arsenal€™s best efforts, and the efforts of their manager, players are leaving and the club is no longer considered a winning club. Still known for their fluid football, the cracks in the Arsenal side have widened and deepened. Wenger needs to regain control of the ship, and jettisoning Sagna may show that Wenger is not going to let players, agents or fans dictate terms. * * * * * * * * * * * There are reasons to keep Sagna at the club, although they are harder to find unless Sagna regains his best form and reduces his demands. Can you think of why Arsenal should keep him, and under what circumstances? Or maybe more reasons why they should sell him in January? Put it in the comments section below.
