Arsenal Transfers: 5 Errors Wenger Made On Deadline Day

3. ...And Wilfried Bony...

Why haven't Arsenal signed Wilfried Bony? Surely he would have been a better option than Danny Welbeck? Bony has been scoring for fun over the last two seasons, netting a blistering 31 times in 30 appearances in his final season with Vitesse Arnhem to finish as the Eredivisie's top goalscorer in 2012-13, while he impressed during his debut Premier League campaign, striking 16 league goals. That's seven more than Welbeck managed and the Ivorian is clearly the more prolific striker based off the last two seasons. Arsene Wenger should have pulled out all the stops to land Bony and it really is perplexing that he has instead settled for another team's leavings, with Welbeck deemed surplus to requirements at Old Trafford. Swansea manager Garry Monk even gave Arsenal an open invitation to make a bid by saying Bony would only be sold for an "astronomical amount", why then didn't he test the Welsh club's resolve to hold on to the player by making a decent offer? In the end not a single bid was made and the club should surely have tried harder to push the move through.
