Arsenal Transfers: 5 Goalkeepers To Replace Fabianski
3. Simone Scuffet
Simone Scuffet is a goalkeeper whose star is quickly rising in European football. He may only be 17-years-old, but make no mistake about it, the young Italian is well on his way to becoming his countrys next great goalkeeper. Scuffet broke into the Udinese team last season, earning his opportunity on February 1 in a match against Bologna. With first choice keeper Zelijko Brkic injured, Scuffet was brought into the team and excelled, keeping a clean sheet as his team won 2-0. He was the first local goalkeeper to play for Udinese since Dino Zoff in 1962. A positive omen. Comparisons are already being made to the great Gianluigi Buffon, who actually made his Serie A debut when he was a year old than Scuffet. Such is the hype surrounding the youngster, that he was invited to train with the Italian senior side in March, an indication that Cesare Prandelli views him as an heir to Buffons throne. Undeniably Scuffet is still learning. Although he has established himself as Udineses number one, the odd error demonstrates that he is not yet the finished article. However, at Arsenal Scuffet would be the number two, gaining first team experience in cup competitions and the odd European match. Such a set-up may benefit the youngster, providing him with the opportunity to gain experience while still developing under the guide of coaches at a top club.
