Another unfortunate ongoing saga in which a player’s body refuses to comply with his mind, Jack Wilshere’s injury problems continued to plague him last season despite playing over 25 games while on loan at Bournemouth.

A naturally gifted central midfielder, his quick feet and ability to pick a pass fit in perfectly with the technical playing style that Wenger revolves his side around. The constant breakdown of Wilshere’s body has led to infrequent appearances in an Arsenal shirt and his position last season was filled in by new boy Granit Xhaka who has provided a reliable defensive minded playing style in contrast to some of Arsenal’s more attacking minded squad members.

Given the rigours of a season spent at a top level side such as Arsenal, there is little argument that Wilshere’s body may not be able to handle the required intensity that comes from playing games back to back with minor rests in-between.

Relatively young at the age of 25, Wenger could still see a future in the Englishman who despite his limited appearances has become a well-liked and popular figure amongst players and fans alike. A decision will have to be made in regards to whether a place can be justifiably given to the midfielder with a number of stronger options existing both in the current transfer market and at the club also.
