Arsenal Transfers: 5 Reasons Gunners Should Buy Julian Draxler

5. Draxler Is A German International

Wenger is often quoted as saying that he will only enter the market if the player is of the quality the Gunners require. If a player is up to their standards, then the club will go out and pay the fee. The £40 million outlay on Ozil exemplifies how this is very much the case at Arsenal. Buying in January is renowned for being difficult as there is very little on offer in the market. Players are worried about leaving and jeopardising their World Cup spot, while clubs are reluctant to sell their prize assets in the middle of the season. Consequently, Wenger is usually granted a degree of understanding when he does not spend in January. But, the availability and emergence of Draxler on the market means that the Arsenal manager has no excuse not to spend. Draxler is a player of proven international quality. The 20-year-old has already been capped 10 times by Germany and, when you consider the plethora of attacking talent they have on offer, this is an impressive achievement. The fact that Draxler has represented an elite footballing nation immediately puts him in that bracket of being a high calibre player. If you can deliver on the international stage, then there is a good chance you can deliver in the Premier League. Draxler has also demonstrated his talents in the Champions League, Europe's premier club competition. It is merely another string to the youngster's bow, but it reinforces the point that Wenger has the rare opportunity of being able to buy a player of real quality during the January transfer window.
