Arsenal Transfers: 6 Failed Deals Wenger Should Revive In Summer

1. Papiss Cisse

After a failed attempt to loan the Senegalese striker on deadline day, Arsenal has shown a brief interest in the Newcastle man's abilities. Having established his glowing reputation in the Bundesliga, Papiss Cisse has not quite lived up to his promise in recent months. This, in addition to the troubles Cisse has had with Newcastle sponsors 'Wonga' could see Arsenal snap up a cheap, yet world-class striker as an understudy to Giroud. The 28 year-old has attracted interest from numerous clubs in the January transfer window, with a bid of £6.6 million already turned away by Newcastle. Arsenal will need to act fast if they are to attain Cisse's ideal services. The striker's ability to play as, or in front, of a target man, would fit into Arsenal's attack nicely. This would allow Arsenal to have a target to look for when going forwards, as well as give Giroud someone to help him out up front. Cisse has been compared to ex-Arsenal player Gervinho, who recently left for Roma, leaving a hole in Arsenal's attack that is yet to be filled. With Cisse's talents, he could not only cover the hole left by Gervinho, but also provide a versatile cover for the wider-oriented strikers like Lukas Podolski, and the central strikers like Giroud.
