1. Tottenham Hotspur
Quite simply, the club who undoubtedly need Christian Benteke the most is the club
most strongly linked with him - Tottenham Hotspur. With Jermain Defoe and Emmanuel Adebayor being the only recognised out-and-out senior strikers on Spurs' books, another top quality striker is something they are desperately in need of. As I write this, Gareth Bale has scored every one of Tottenham's last 6 goals - and he's supposed to be a left winger. Jermain Defoe's recent absence through injury and Emmanuel Adebayor's stint at the African Cup of Nations has only highlighted the lack of depth in Tottenham's strikeforce. Defoe has been on form this term but, in his absence, Adebayor hasn't. Clint Dempsey has done his best to deputise, even though his strongest position is as an attacking midfielder, but hasn't looked enough of a threat. Inexperienced backup in the form of youngsters Harry Kane and Jonathan Obika is not adequate for a team of Tottenham's standing, so new blood is an absolute must. The main factor that should attract Tottenham to Benteke is his cost. He won't come cheap, and Villa will be hesitant to sell, but in comparison to some of the strikers Spurs have been linked with - strikers with no Premier League experience, may I add - he will be a bargain. And we all know Daniel Levy loves a bargain. Tottenham should, and surely will, go for Benteke is the summer.
