Gerardo who? Unknown to the footballing masses Gerardo Martino became one of the early favourites to succeed Vilanova after 'Marca' reported that Barcelona were in talks with Martino. With the majority of his career spent in South America, winning the Paraguayan league numerous times as a player and a manager. Recently he coached his boyhood team, Newell's Old Boy's to the Torneo final which they won, he also had 5 years in charge of the Paraguayan national team in which he lead them to the 2010 World Cup.

It is hard to know if Martino would be right for the Barcelona job as there is so little known about him, but if he was to get the chance it would be interesting to see what he would do and how the players would react to this unknown quantity to European football.
