Having bagged 50 goals in 85 Bundesliga games over the past three seasons, it's easy to see why Timo Werner is held in such high regard.

A 23-year-old Germany international with pace to burn and who is clinical in front of goal? It seems like only a matter of time before Werner departs Red Bull Leipzig for one of European football's bigger teams. And like so many other young German stars, Werner may well end up at Bayern Munich.

With Werner about to enter the final 12 months of his RB Leipzig deal, FC Bayern should be looking at the striker as a fantastic natural heir to the goalscoring exploits of Robert Lewandwski.

At 31 years of age, Lewandowski still has plenty of goals left in him - but Werner has the potential to become the successor to the Polish striker's throne at Bayern. Added to that, Werner's ability to play on the left or right also offers up options to a Bayern Munich side desperately looking to fill the void of Arjen Robben and Franck Ribery.
