Best Ever Premier League 5-A-Side: England Vs The World

Striker: Thierry Henry

Henry The highest scoring non-Englishman in Premier League history with 176 goals in 258 appearances, Thierry Henry is the third highest scorer overall - behind Alan Shearer and Andy Cole. The Frenchman was the shining light in the unbeatable Arsenal team of 2002-03 and also won the title with them in the previous season. He also won three FA Cups with the Gunners and was top scorer in the Premier League for a number of seasons. Generally considered to be one of the best players ever to grace the Premier League, Henry left Arsenal for Barcelona in 2007. He then moved to New York Red Bulls, where he still plays now at the age of 35, but returned to Arsenal on loan last year, where he received a hero's welcome and managed to score for them once again. Honourable mentions: Cristiano Ronaldo, Dennis Bergkamp, Robin Van Persie, Gianfranco Zola, Eric Cantona, Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink. Yes, I'm aware that leaving out a certain Cristiano Ronaldo from the team will cause uproar, but this is just my opinion. You are free to have yours in the comments! Personally, I think a team requires a midfielder with defensive capabilities (ruling out Ronaldo from possibly filling one of the midfield roles), and no one was better at that from midfield than the Arsenal 'unbeatables' captain - so I opted for Vieira. Then, in the attacking midfield role, I opted for the most decorated and long-serving player in Premier League history - that's Ryan Giggs. Then, up front, I opted for the man whose goalscoring in the Premier League was second-to-none, a man who is the highest-scoring non-Englishman in Premier League history, another man who was part of the Arsenal unbeatables - and that's Thierry Henry. So, in a nutshell, there were two positions in which Ronaldo could've slotted in, and there's no justifiable reason to leave out Giggs or Henry. Ronaldo just wasn't at this peak for long enough in England (bearing in mind these teams are based on Premier League performances only). So, who would you have in your ultimate 5-a-side teams from the Premier League era? Who would make your England team? Who would make your Rest of the World team? State your thoughts below!
