3. This Could Be Dortmund's Only Chance
If Bayern Munich lose the Champions League Final for a second consecutive season it will be a huge shame for a respectable, well run football club. But not as big a shame as it will be for Dortmund. Despite having won two Bundesligas and a German Cup in the last three seasons, Die Borussen are hemorrhaging star players. They lost Shinji Kagawa to Man Utd last summer, while Mario Gotze will be leaving for Bayern Munich come the end of this season, with Robert Lewandowski likely to follow him. Inevitably, others will be circling around the likes of Neven Subotic, Mats Hummels, Ilkay Gundogan and Marco Reus. Dortmund have worked incredibly hard to build a young, vibrant, positive squad that consistently wins trophies, and yet this summer could see them forced into a rebuilding process that leaves them a long way from European glory for the foreseeable future and strengthens Bayern's strangle-hold on domestic German football. With a squad glittering with stars and Pep Guardiola at the helm, Munich will win a Champions League very, very soon. This year though, it needs to be Dortmund.
