Chelsea Transfer News: Man Utd's Javier Hernandez To Stamford Bridge?

Chelsea will attempt to lure Javier Hernandez away from Old Trafford after the arrival of Robin Van Persie.

Caught Offside, Chelsea will attempt to lure Javier Hernandez away from Old Trafford after the Mexican international fell further down the Manchester United pecking order following the expected capture of Robin Van Persie this week. The Stamford Bridge club have spent all summer lining up moves for a new forward following the release of Didier Drogba and Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich may now consider a bid for the 24-year-old striker who burst into the English game with a huge impact in his first season, then tailed off in the last campaign and fell behind Danny Welbeck in the pecking order. The talismanic marksman dubbed "Chicharito" failed to cement a regular place in the Red Devils teamsheet and his form suffered when called upon. Hernandez made just 18 Premier League appearances last season, less than half of the whole campaign. His chances for game time are likely to be lessened with the arrival of the Dutch international striker who scored 30 Premier League goals last season and won the Footballers Writers' and Players' Player of the Year. Caught Offside however claims that United would be far more likely to sell Hernandez to a non-Premier League club than direct Premier League and Champions League rivals Chelsea. And as Abramovich has already spent over £60 million on Eden Hazard, Marko Marin and Oscar - he may be reluctant to match United's valuation for the forward.
