How ironic would it be if Chelsea replaced Ashley Cole with Leighton Baines? The man who has been keeping Cole out of the England setup recently has been linked with a move to Stamford Bridge numerous times in the past, and was on their radar ahead of the last January window. Baines currently has less than two years left on his contract at Goodison Park and has also been strongly linked with a move to Manchester United in recent times. The left-back would not be cup-tied in the Champions League should he join Chelsea in the New Year given the Toffees aren't in Europe this season, which makes him an attractive option. Baines is also well established in the Premier League and the Blues know what they're getting should they make a move in January.
