Derby County 5-1 Blackpool: 5 Things We Learned

2. County's Chris Martin Is Hat-Trick Hero

At a time when former club Norwich are struggling to score striker Chris Martin has found his feet at Derby. His treble on Saturday took him to double figures in the league and 13 in all competitions this term.

On reflection he went down a little theatrically to win the first penalty, but the Rams were rampant because of him. Martin still had to convert two spot kicks and opportunistically score from open play between them.

McClaren sung his praises too:

"I'm pleased for Chris. He's become the focal point to our attack and our team. He allows the players around him to come in because he can hold the ball up, has great awareness and a great touch."

That's an endorsement which cannot be argued with after six goals in Martin's last five matches.
