England Squad Reaction

Strikers: Jermain Defoe, Rickie Lambert, Wayne Rooney, Daniel Sturridge, Danny Welbeck, Ashley Young Whatever you may say about Wayne Rooney, he is one of the best players in the league and is first on the teamsheet. He may not have shown his full talent for England but has still scored plenty of goals and played very well last on monday. Sturridge has looked very good since moving to get regular football at Liverpool and showed true quality at the weekend scoring against Aston Villa in a game with few chances. Welbeck€™s selection in the England squad has been questioned over the last year but he does score important goals for England and has been wonderful for Manchester United this season so far. I had been waiting for Lambert€™s call up for a while and he showed what he could do against Scotland and fully deserves his place. Young and Defoe, however do not. Young has not performed consistently well for Man Utd since moving from Aston Villa, yet is picked far more for playing worse than he did at Villa. Along with Cleverley, Sterling and Smalling I believe he is picked partly because of the club he plays for (or doesn€™t)! There have been calls for Agbonlahor to be called up and has been in fine form this season, using his pace to good effect and would do well with Walcott. Defoe has been sidelined at Spurs and is lucky to be considered. I would love to hear your views, so please leave a comment below!
