Every Premier League Man Utd No.7 Ranked Worst To Best
4. Antonio Valencia
Finally, someone decent to talk about, Antonio Valencia joined United from Wigan Athletic in the summer of 2009 and would spend a decade at Old Trafford before leaving to play in his native Ecuador.
During his ten-year spell with the Red Devils, Valencia won two league titles and four other major cups, playing on the wing or at right-back. He wasn’t a particularly spectacular player, but he was a solid and consistent presence at the club, receiving the Player of the Year Award in 2012 and being named United captain in 2018.
He is however more associated with wearing the No.25 shirt, not the No.7. It was his original number when he joined the team, but he was given the prestigious 7 following Owen’s departure and his award winning 2011-12 campaign. But just a year later, following a difficult season where he scored just once, he decided don 25 on his back, saying:
I’d been considering a change back and maybe it is psychological or maybe it is just all about a good luck symbol. I hope it still brings me more good luck.
An inspirational player who fans will fondly remember, it is perhaps rather fitting that he would finish his United career with 25 goals.
