Fantasy Premier League Tips 2014: 15 Best Point-Per-Pound Buys

7. Adam Johnson (Sunderland) £6.5m

Last Season's Points Total: 134. Adam Johnson is, by far, Sunderland's best player on his day - able to beat a man, provide assists and indeed score goals. Johnson was the eleventh highest scoring midfielder last season, with nobody above him costing less than £7.5 million. He scored eight goals and got six assists - despite only playing in around 2/3 of Sunderland's Premier League minutes. Gus Poyet will be looking for an improvement for his side this season - as they were very close to being relegated in the last one - and Adam Johnson will be expected to play a key part in that improvement. If he can improve on his eight goals and six assists - most of which came in a very short spell of form that he will be expected to show over a longer period this year - he'll be a great acquisition for just £6.5 million.
