Liverpool: 5 Players They Must Sign To Catch Man City

1. Joao Cancelo (Juventus)

On paper, Trent Alexander-Arnold is Liverpool's first choice right-back - the youngster having put in an excellent 2018/2019 campaign that saw him become one of the best young players in the world.

By trade, though, TAA is actually a midfield player. Crazy, right?

Even if you class Alexander-Arnold as a right-back now, there's still the argument to be made that, if Liverpool are to match Manchester City, they should be looking to fill their squad with world class players who can fill various positions.

With that in mind, one ideal purchase for Jurgen Klopp would be Juventus' Joao Cancelo. Seemingly set to depart Turin this summer, Cancelo offers up genuine quality while also providing that ever-important versatility.

A largely right-sided player, Cancelo is primarily a right-back, but he can also play on the right wing and even in central midfield - much like Alexander-Arnold.

If recent rumours are to be believed, Liverpool would actually have to fend off Man City if they were to seriously go in for the 26-year-old Portuguese. That in itself, of course, would be a "win" for Liverpool should they be able to get one over on Pep Guardiola and City.
