Liverpool Dream XI To Win The Premier League 2014/15
10. Dejan Lovren - Centre-Back
Liverpool's leaky defence was the key reason why they didn't win last season's Premier League, and while their attacking football was an absolute joy to behold, reinforcements at the back were absolutely paramount. The team have lacked a central defensive leader since the exit of Jamie Carragher, but the signing of Lovren from Southampton looks to be an absolutely inspired piece of business. He was one of the standout centre-backs in the country last season, and helped the Saints finished eighth in the table. The 25-year-old has slotted straight in, performing brilliantly on his Premier League debut for the Reds against his former club. He oozed class on the ball, read the game expertly and communicated well with those around him. He is future captain material without a shadow of a doubt. As long as the Croatia international stays fit he is the first defender on Rodgers' team-sheet, and although he was far from cheap, he could end up looking a bargain in years to come.
