2. John Arne Riise's Champions League Horror Show
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0ycbUM53mFk The bitterness between Liverpool and Chelsea since Roman Abramovich bought the west London club in 2003 has been there for all to see. There is a genuine hatred between the two sides, and there have been numerous unforgettable Champions League clashes between the two over the last decade. One of the most dramatic was the semi-final first-leg clash at Anfield back in April 2008. Benitez's side appeared to be on their way to a priceless 1-0 victory, thanks to Dirk Kuyt's first-half goal, but Riise was about to change all that with a moment that must still haunt him to this day. 94 minutes had been played, and the Reds had seemingly done their job. Saloman Kalou somehow found space by the corner flag to whip a deadly, awkward cross in, however, and a rather surprised Riise stooped and headed the ball straight past Reina on the half-volley in front of the Kop. The home faithful were absolutely stunned, and it gave the Blues an enormous amount of momentum going into the second-leg. They predictably progressed, following an epic 4-3 aggregate victory, and it had been the Norwegian's howler that had changed the tie completely. He was sold a few months later.
