5. Pepe

Centre-back Matija Nastasic has been ruled out for the first four to six weeks of the season and that could lead to Man City taking their pursuit of Real Madrid's Pepe up a notch,
according to reports. Pepe has been linked with City all summer and with Nastasic set to miss up to a month-and-a-half of the Premier League, the search for a centre-back has taken on a greater level of importance. City look especially stretched at centre-back having allowed Kolo Toure join Liverpool on a free transfer. And Pepe, who dropped behind Raphael Varane in the pecking order at times last season, could be up for a move to England and with it a fresh challenge. The 30-year-old would bring a wealth of experience with him to the Etihad having won two Portuguese and Spanish titles and could serve as a stop-gap until Varane recovers full fitness, and then serve as an understudy to the Frenchman.
