2. Faouzi Ghoulam
This name has rather come out of left field, but,
according to the Daily Express, Algeria cap Ghoulam is the latest Saint-Etienne graduate to pique the interest of Europe's top teams. United are ready to rival Serie A giants AC Milan for his signature. Fellow Italian club Torino tried to sign Ghoulam in the summer without success. Liverpool and relegated QPR were also rumoured to be interested in him. Saint-Etienne face difficult decisions in upcoming transfer windows. The club cashed in on other prized assets Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Joshua Guilavogui over the summer meaning there are no immediate financial reasons to sell the likes of Ghoulam and Kurt Zouma. Being realistic, however, the club lacks any substantial standing in its own league and never mind Europe. If interest in players like Ghoulam comes their way heads will easily be turned. Moving to the Red Devils in January or June would be a huge step up for him. Like Shaw and Willems, 22-year-old Ghoulam would represent an investment in potential by Moyes. That said Algerian footballers have struggled to establish themselves in European leagues outside of France. A move for Ghoulam looks to be something of a gamble and smacks of a fall-back option should more illustrious targets be missed.
